GROWING TIPS
Crookneck Squash is a hot weather plant that needs full sun, rich fertile soil and warm temperatures. It grows in loose bushes; and is best planted in hills once the soil has warmed to 65-70° F. Sow groups of 3-6 seeds 1" deep and approximately 6' apart. As they grow it is important to thin to 1 strong seedling per group so plants have ample room to spread. Keep soil moist and fertilize monthly. Fruits are mature when about 8" long; but can be harvested earlier.
Enjoy squash all summer long! Harvest Crookneck Squash frequently to enjoy continuous production all summer long.
For best results harvest squash before they reach maturity; and enjoy the entire fruit - skin, seeds and succulent flesh - in your recipes.
Wit & Wisdom: Squash flowers are edible and make a tasty treat when fried in a light batter. Read The Old Farmer's Almanac Squash & Zucchini Growing Guide!
